how to learn foreign languages really fast

First of all, I would like to mention that learning a foreign language is never effortless. If you want to acquire a new language you need to make a genuine effort to learn it. The method I'm going to suggest will not work if you don't have a strong desire to learn the language.

There are a number of different ways to learn a foreign language effectively. You can use audio programs, textbooks, online courses, Skype, and a variety of other tools to study a language. And I really do believe that these methods can lead to great levels of proficiency if used properly. But they are certainly not the fastest way to learn a language.

Three years ago, my girlfriend couldn't speak any English at all. (We shall refer to her as T from here on.) She couldn't even ask where the toilet is. Nothing-well, unless toire is a valid synonym for bathroom in English. As you probably know, the level of English in Japan is dreadful, although you would almost never come across a local unwilling to help a lost tourist.

So one day, T's university had a group of foreigners visiting. T had always wanted to learn to speak English, so her teacher, knowing this, ushered her to where the guests were hanging out. They all became good friends. But they had a problem: neither side could speak a language that was mutually intelligible. They had to resort to primitive gestures and body language to communicate.

Quite soon, T realized that if she were to know her friends better, either side would have to learn a new language. So she made up her mind to learn English no matter what it takes. She started spending time with her foreign friends incessantly, twenty-four-seven, fully immersed in the English language and with a mindset that desired to acquire the language.

She didn't give up the gestures though. They were still important for communication. But she started gathering words and phrases, little by little, to augment the body language. And this is how simple words and phrases started evolving into more sophisticated expressions. After a month, she didn't have to rely on body language anymore. Thirty days of complete immersion had sufficed to develop the ability to communicate in another human language. No textbooks, no classes, and no homework were needed-just pure immersion and fun.

The level of English wasn't just applicable to basic communication. T had become adept at mimicking people's pronunciation. She started speaking with the same kind of intonation and accent as her friends did, which is probably why she still says aboat (about), as her Canadian friends would say, and has a distinct twang to her delivery of the words pants and pass, owing to her friend from Michigan, I suppose. She also would not say "What would you like to have for dinner?" which obviously sounds like a textbook expression, and instead would go for the casual "What do you wanna eat?"

After witnessing the power of immersion in language learning, I began recommending it to friends and students, and saw the same effects taking place. My girlfriend and I also had a Japanese friend over at our place for a few months, and she learned to speak English extremely fast, probably because no one really uttered a word of Japanese inside the house.

The important thing is to refrain from taking the easy way out, that is, using a mutually comprehensible language. When you place yourself in an environment that necessitates your learning the local language, you also learn it faster because you know that you will be in trouble if you don't. This is why I strongly believe that the fastest way to learn a language effectively is to immerse yourself in it and try to survive; and don't worry because you will.

how to get new clients for your business.

How to Get New Clients for Your Business
by: Kaye Z. Marks

i

If there is one thing, you need to learn to acquire when you are in business, it is how to have the skill to attract clients. Nevertheless, let us go further and say that you need to learn the skill of attracting the RIGHT kind of clients.

More than any other skill or capability when marketing one’s business, attracting the right clients is one ability that can help your business to achieve its goal. And despite being economically unstable at the moment, your business will never want for profits and financial security as you will find your marketing endeavors such as your brochure printing or print brochures become more responsive to the goals you want to accomplish.

Having this skill can also provide you with enough time to not only devote it to growing your business, but more importantly to having quality time with your family and other social events. The bottom line is to attract not only more clients, but also especially those people who have the capacity to pay for what you are offering. When you learn how to attract the right target clients, you will truly have an amazing tool that can get you the leads you want, when you want it and where.

The next question now is how you figure out what your target market wants. The answer lies on the following steps:

1- Remember that being visible is not enough to get you your clients. Nor is getting your words out there. These things are not adequate to secure you the leads you need in order to grow your business.

2- Most clients and customers know what they want. They will not buy anything just because you believe they do want them. More often than not, consumers buy according to their wants.

3- Again, customers buy because they want to, not because they need it. Therefore, unless your offer matches what your target clients want then securing the right kind of clients will always be something of a dream for you. What is the solution to this problem? Keep tabs on your target clients and research on what products and services does your target client wants in the marketplace.

Next, in order for you to get the right target clients, you need start selling to those who have already signified their interest to buy your products or avail of your service. Focus on people who have said ‘aye’ to your offer, and then encourage them further so your business can gain profits in the process. This is more lucrative than trying to sell your products to just about everybody and anybody.

Then, learn to unlearn your perception of making your target clients more than what they are – people. Your target clients are people that are no different from you. Do not be afraid to approach them. They are people just like you – having the same physical functions, emotions, needs and wants. By understanding this, you will gain more confidence to talk to your target clients about your business so they can relate their needs more effectively.

Finally, learn to accept rejection. It is not you. It is the product or service you are offering them that they rebuff. When you do accept this reality, you will be able to be more honest and confident in dealing with your target clients.

How To Deal With Culture Shock With Teaching Abroad

How To Deal With Culture Shock With Teaching Abroad
by: Jennifer Bennett

i

Everyone at Travel and Teach, having experienced a new life and teaching experience in Korea ourselves likes to offer our teachers more than just professional teaching tips, but rather, prepare you for this new life and cultural adventure...

Experts writing on culture shock have identified four distinct phases through which anyone going to live abroad passes – the length of each phase varies with the individual, but, in general, each phase lasts longer than the preceding one. The four phases seem to be:

Fascination: an initial period of time when everything is new and there are seemingly few problems since everyone is being extremely accommodating. The predominant feeling during this period is one of exhilaration at being at last overseas after a long period of anticipation.

Friendship: immediately following the initial euphoria comes the stage in which the need to structure a new social support system to replace the one left behind becomes paramount. At this time there is an understandable, but potentially dangerous, tendency to gravitate exclusively to the company of one’s fellow countrymen for friendship and to take refuge in the familiar - a situation which can easily solidify into the, “we-they” syndrome in the third stage.

Frustration: After enough time has elapsed to become familiar with the country, to make initial contacts with the people and to come to grips with the requirements of the new job, a stage of depression begins. The local people seem to become intransigent, the physical environment unpleasant, and the demands of the job impossible to fulfill. The result is that hostility towards the host country and those who are in authority in it becomes the predominant emotion, and the homesickness is the by-product. Sometimes this frustration gets so high that the whole experience is seen as a mistake.

Fulfillment: Fortunately, although the previous stage can be a very difficult one to live through, it does usually come to an end as the cultural comfort level increases and then leads into a period in which the experience of teaching overseas becomes both fulfilling and rewarding. The onset of this phase stems from a personal realization and acceptance that the new environment in all its aspects, is unlikely to change and so that, if the experience is to be satisfying, it is the individual who must adapt to the new environment by learning to operate within its confines. This may indeed result in compromises, often many of them, but it will also result in a realization that conflicts can be worked out and that the potential for success and happiness during the time to be spent abroad is as great as the individual prepared to let it be.

Did You Do a Mistake ?

A new relationship is a thing of wonder. Both of you are so excited to have found someone you have so much in common with. You want to spend every waking moment together. You love everything about each other and enjoy being together more than anything. But as time goes by, much of the magic seems to disappear and you wonder what went wrong.

As the relationship ages and you become more comfortable with each other, it is easy to let the little things fall by the wayside. Now both parties are at fault here, but women seem to take it more personally when they feel like they have been ignored or slighted in any way.

So what are seven mistakes that men make in a relationship?

  1. Forget to Compliment - When you are trying to win the girl you let her know everything you like about her. You compliment cooking, the way she dresses, etc. Just because you have been in the relationship for a while doesn't mean this can stop. Women like to know when you are happy with her and when you appreciate what she does. Let her know - and be sincere!
  2. Criticizing- Critiquing how someone does something or how they look does not inspire them to change. In fact, many times it has the opposite effect. It is not healthy for a relationship to have the negativity of criticism. Remember that it takes ten positive comments to undo the damage of one negative one.
  3. Ignoring the Emotional - Women are very emotional creatures. Everything in their life is tied to an emotion. In fact, even sex has to have an emotional motivator. Make sure you take care of your partner emotionally - ask about her feelings, let her talk when she needs to, etc. One of the big things men forget to do is to say 'I love you'. You know you love her, but you can assume she knows this. If you take care of her emotionally she will take care of you in the bedroom. Foreplay is a 24/7 process for women.
  4. Focusing too Much on the Physical - Men usually don't have too much trouble letting their partner how they feel physically. In fact, they can be quite hands on in this department. Now I am not saying this is necessarily bad, but do you let your partner know you care about her mind, her emotions, and her personality as well? If not, you are giving her the impression that to you she is only good for one thing.
  5. Don't Expect Wonder Woman - Many men want a sex kitten in the bedroom, a maid for the house, his mom to cook for him, and someone who makes an incredible salary outside the home. You can't have it all! You need to compromise and realize that your partner is only human and she is doing the best she can. Accept her for who she is and love her just the same.
  6. Not Helping Around the House - Along with not expecting Wonder Woman, don't expect your wife to carry the full load around the house. We are not living in the 1950's anymore. More women work outside the home than ever before and so they aren't home to keep a perfect house and cook the perfect meal. Share in the household chores including, laundry, dishes, making meals, and cleaning. Now I am not saying you need to do all of these all the time, but share the responsibility with your wife to make home life smoother.
  7. Not Showing Interest in Her Life - Many men think that whatever their wife does in her spare time is her business and it doesn't pertain to him. However, it really makes her day when you take an interest and ask her about her latest hobby or the current book she is reading. Yes women and men have very different interests, but that doesn't mean hers are not worth paying attention to.

Relationships are tough and they take a lot of work. If men will remember to stay away from these seven mistakes, you will have a happy wife and therefore a happier life.

do you want to be happy ?

List of 33 things I personally follow to make each day a dream and each dream a reality. Please adapt what vibrates with you and share with others.

  1. Start each day with a smile and say or think: "Today is going to be a beautiful day!"
  2. When you wake up try to recall what you dreamed about and write down what you remember. The more you do this, the more you will recall.
  3. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a Pauper.
  4. Know that love is the answer.
  5. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
  6. Take more care of your body by getting proper sleep and exercise
  7. Relax and read more than you did the year prior.
  8. Practice meditation daily, at the beginning of the day if possible. You find clarity in your mind body and soul.
  9. Listen to people, pay attention to what they say and try to see the God in them. Smile.
  10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and less that is manufactured in plants. Avoid red meats and cut back on other meats.
  11. Drink a lot of water. The body is 70% water. Water flushes and detoxifies the body and much more. Aim for a gallon a day.
  12. Remove the clutter from your house, car, desk, and allow the new flowing energy in your life.
  13. Don't react to life's drama. Observe, decide, choose then act from your higher self as a mature human being.
  14. Fall in love with what IS. All suffering comes from not accepting what reality is showing you. Accept, allow and trust the power that has made the present what it is.
  15. Know that you are a spirit having a human experience and that physical reality is just an illusion. One that you have had many lives in.
  16. Know that you can be happy at anytime just by smiling and thinking of a happy place or thing.
  17. Know that when you leave joy and happiness to feel angry and sad, it is a choice and you did not have to choose to do so. No one made you. Accept ownership.
  18. Suffering arises from seeking happiness outside of you. Seek it from inside always.
  19. Forgive yourself and others.
  20. Love unconditionally, like a mother loves her baby. Treat everyone like your baby.
  21. Don't judge others, all choices are valid. All beliefs are true.
  22. Know that you are always OK. You always were and always will be. So why worry.
  23. What other people think of you is none of your business.
  24. Remember that God is love.
  25. However good or bad a situation is it will change. It always has and always will. Change is the only constant in creation.
  26. Life has no meaning other than that of being happy.
  27. What you put out is what you get back. Put out only love, truth and joy and watch your world change.
  28. If something does not serve you, then remove it or stop doing it.
  29. Always tell the truth and act from a Christ like consciousness of goodness and know that whatever you want to do, the universe will support you.
  30. Each night before you go to bed be grateful for the day and ask to be shown in your dreams, whatever you want to know or see.
  31. Go to bed in a clear and happy state of mind and ask to remember your dreams.
  32. Remember that you are connected to creation and loved unconditionally.
  33. Enjoy your life and make it count so as you return back into spirit world each night you can be proud of your latest greatest self. Smile and happy dreams.
